Stunning lab opal ring with a purple amethyst center stone set in sterling silver. This unique ring is inlaid with 3 pieces of multi-color lab created opal on each side of the ring. The colorful lab created opal in this ring fires red, orange and yellow with a purple base color and hints of blue and green. The .75 carat round amethyst is set almost flush with the silver and the deep purple color looks great with the lab created opal. We took special care to cut the lab created opal to mimic the random pattern in natural Australian opal and maximize the color flashes. The ring is 6.2mm wide at the top and tapers slightly down to 4mm at the bottom. It is shown in a size 7 1/2 for scale. This ring would also make a great wedding ring or engagement ring. The lab created opal in this woman's opal ring is a top quality synthetic opal grown under laboratory conditions. The manmade opal's chemical composition is the same as natural opal with the exception of water content. Australian opal contains about 4% water and lab created opal contains no water. Instead, the water is replaced with resin. The resin gives the synthetic opal more durability and helps to resist cracking. Laboratory grown opal gives you all the fire and colors of top grade natural opal at a much more affordable price with increased durability.
